Another very successful children's consignment sale has come and gone!! Many thanks to everyone who helped--from those who mailed out the packets, manned the phone for sellers, posted the signs, set up and took down, cashiering, tag sorting, room supervising, bagging items ----everyone, no matter how big or how small your job was--you make the sale a success! Items not returned after the sale went to several schools, a Vietnamese family new to our country, Birthright, Monlock House, the Hondurans, Cleveland School and many other deserving places. There is a need for everything somewhere. Donations to the sale are always welcome. Money from these items is all ours. The local VFW Post always donates from their collection-- maternity clothes, girl's, boy's, infant's clothing, shoes and toys. Of all the donations that sold, 95% of them were from the VFW Post and netted for us over $600.00! They always participate and we thank them greatly for their help! The total amount of money for items that were sold was $13,707.94. Money returned to the venders and some expenses totaled $8,692.90, leaving $5,045.04 for the UMW. This money will be used for many mission projects both here and far away. A big thank you goes to Liz and Nancy Owens who put this project together! They always do a wonderful job from start to finish and they hope to see all of you back for another sale in the spring!
The UMW is selling pecans again this year. One-pound bags of jumbo shelled pecan halves will be available after October 28th. The cost is $7.50 per pound. Please call Hazel Marshall at (703) 765-3346 if you are interested. The Cameron UMW annual New Member Dinner will be held on Monday, November 3rd at 6:30 in Skelton Hall. All members, new members and member wannabes are encouraged to come. The Unit meeting will follow dinner. New officers for the coming year will be installed. Sue Boltz will present the program about her recent mission travels. We hope to see YOU there! The Cameron UMW have elected new officers for 2009-2010. We thank all of those whose terms of office are ending for the fine job they have done in all areas of our organization. We thank these women who have agreed to serve for the coming term: President- Joy Relton, Vice-President- Nancy Owens, Secretary-Dottie Holstine, Treasurer- Dorothy Uhlir, Program Area Coordinators--Spiritual Growth- Barbara Turpin, Education & Interpretation- Donna Grigsby, Secretary of Program Resources- Nancy Williams, Nominating Committee-Shirley Campbell, Chairman, Dixie Goss, Carol Malzahn, Kathy Henry, Carol Settlemyer, Membership Nurture and Outreach-Mary West, Judy Swarthout, Mary Sue Smith, Publicity-Peggy Guggolz and Kitchen-Shirley Campbell.
